Arrived late last night, and after seeing Timo and eating Salmon soup went to sleep in hut next to sauna. Perfectly acceptable accommodation with bathroom and ‘one up – two down’ bunk bed . Whilst eating, Bent made some disturbing comments about the future availability of lead dogs suitable for me. As will be seen, these concerns are likely misplaced.
Got to breakfast just after 0900. Agreed that we would take Bent on first day as guide with Sophia sitting on my sled and Marina following. Marina had trouble starting and then fell of a couple of times. After various ideas decided to allow Sophia to try driving and she turned out to be a natural!
Bent led us to top of Janisvaara (which now has a lavu) and then back to the Finn-Jann lavu for lunch. We were supposed to join Timo’s group, but Bent had not set his watch to Summer time so we didn’t arrive until they were just leaving.
After lunch we had a relatively short drive back to the farm. Marina tried again for a km or so and did a little better.
In the evening, Sophia got a chance to mingle with the six week old puppies. She stated that they were “CUTE!!!”.
